Rain Gardens
Hydrorock natural aquifer blocks offer a range of solutions for urban rain gardens.
Efficiently buffers runoff
With 94% absorption capacity the system provides rapid management of runoff from road or local hard landscaping.
Configuration flexibility
Extra capacity or unusual spaces can easily be accommodated thanks to the modular nature of the system, meaning onsite challenges can be overcome as and when they are encountered, keeping projects on track.
Efficient installation
Being light and easy to manoeuvre, with high capacity, there is less excavation, spoil-away and environmental impact.
Fully compatible
Designed to work with any other Hydrorock infiltration or attenuation filter drain systems, or if retrofitted, with other existing systems
94% absorption by volume
Blocks are configurable to suit the space
Attenuation and/or infiltration options
Hydrorock natural aquifer blocks deliver solutions for a range of urban rain gardens. The blocks capture and hold rainwater before releasing it either into the piped network via attenuation options or into the ground through infiltration.
- Hydrorock blocks can be easily configured for any scale of rain garden
- Configurable nature suits retrofit applications and facilitates easy solutions for in-ground challenges
- Low-dig requirements give added flexibility
- 94% absorption to volume ratio (94%)
- Natural materials
- Recyclable
- Minimal excavations required
- Full compatible with other Hydrorock infiltration or filter drain systems
- Up to 40-tonne load-bearing capacity, with life-time system integrity

Products
Our natural aquifer blocks are available to provide 100% sustainable, 100% recyclable water management solutions.
Installation
Installation is very simple and quick with minimal disruption. Blocks are pre-wrapped with filter membrane, so the excavation needs to be only as large as the system (no access is required to fit the membrane).
- No specialist installation engineering or equipment is needed, with simple snap-together fittings.
- Blocks are typically laid in a module three blocks wide. This enables the system to self-vent, and should the filters be compromised by human error, the entire system can be flushed.
- Perforated pipes that are integrated within the BD blocks allow rapid water inflow and storage in each block, underground.
- Extra capacity can be added quicky and easily with the installation of further blocks.
- Unlike crated sumps, Hydrorock systems offer the flexibility to be fitted around existing infrastructure, such as pipes and cable, for total site optimisation.
- Laying the system on a 100mm layer of sand will enable infiltration from the module into the surrounding soil, allowing the water to slowly flow from the aquifer blocks.
